of the 24th. December, 1915, and 2nd. ultimo, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of correspondence with the Governor of Macao concerning the identification of the places where persons kidnapped from this Colony were held or ransomed in islands near Macao the jurisdiction over which is in dispute between Portugal
and China.

The jurisdiction over the islands of Macarira
and Wong Kem, the position of which is shown on the attached sketch
map, is in dispute and it is much to be deplored that some arrange-
-ment for the joint policing of this no man's land cannot be
arranged pending the settlement of the dispute as to their ower-
-ship.

I have sent a copy of this Despatch to His
Majesty's Minister at Peking and to His Majesty's Consul-General at
Canton.
